the high school senior process…
A $250 session fee will be requested at the time of your booking. Senior sessions are traditionally for one person but if you'd like to have a friend or family member in a photo or two, feel free to bring them along. After you book your appointment, I will send you a short questionnaire to start getting to know you and your session desires. There are many wonderful locations around town that have beautiful light and unique vibes. Once we have decided whether you want natural, urban, or home surroundings I will choose a location that will let you and your personality shine in the best light (this is typically 1-1.5 hours before sunset). Don't worry if you are confused about what to wear or bring (outfit changes, instruments, letter jackets, etc., something that represents your passions) to your session. I will send you a brochure with guidance about what to wear and bring (bringing just yourself is fine, too). We will spend 1-1.5 hrs at the chosen location getting portraits and environmental shots of you. Within one week of our session, you will have the opportunity to view the photos in your own private online proofing gallery. After you have chosen the photos and the collection you'd like to purchase, the selected photos will be hand edited and uploaded to your final gallery within two weeks. At this time, you will be able to select which photos to use to fulfill your print/framing collections and add-on requests.

During a typical senior session I try to capture many different types of expressions, orientations (portrait and landscape), outfits, and poses taking into careful consideration light and composition. Some photos will be closeups, some will be portraits, and some will be environmental (including your surroundings). I want to take as many different poses and angles of you during our time together as I can. It's important to capture some traditional portrait shots but I also like to get more natural and intuitive poses of each senior I work with. Having you smile and say ‘cheese’ isn’t my thing. My goal is to make you comfortable and relaxed so that I can capture the essence of you, whether that's you laughing, being serious, or even being goofy.

Yes, I have multiple natural and urban locations you can choose from that will produce optimal light and visual interest in the evenings. Within any of these locations I can provide multiple areas and settings that will help provide different looks for your session. If you want to do a session in a special location inside or outside of the city I'm more then happy to do so. If there is travel associated with your location (typically more than 20 miles outside of Fort Collins) a travel fee may apply. Yes, you can have multiple distinct locations but remember each session is approx. 1-1.5 hrs. long and moving to new locations can be time consuming. Additional time per session can be added to accommodate multiple locations. This will be billed at $100/hr.

The quick and easy answer is whatever you feel comfortable in! Once you have booked your appointment and paid your session fee, I will send you a brochure that has the do’s and don’ts of dressing for your session. If you are still unsure after reading the brochure feel free to send me pictures of what you are planning to wear, and I will be happy to give you feedback.

Yes, I love when my seniors have different looks. The most important ingredient in a senior session is being comfortable with who you are and what you are wearing. If changing clothes excites you, bring different outfits and props. If having to plan your wardrobe makes you queasy, by all means, wear what you are comfortable in and keep it simple. Remember, too many outfit changes can potentially cut into your session time and the overall number of photos taken. If you'd like extra time added to your session to accommodate multiple outfits, changing time, and number of photos taken, it will be charged at a rate of $100/hr.

I highly encourage you to bring someone along. We might even squeeze in a couple of shots of the two of you. They can help hold your props, help with outfit changes, and help fix your hair and makeup as needed. Also, they can help you relax and laugh. Make sure it's someone you feel very comfortable around and not someone who makes you feel self conscious in any way. This is your time to shine and have fun, take advantage of it!

I highly recommend getting your makeup done professionally even if you don't typically wear any makeup. However, I don't want you to show up at your session all 'dolled up' and feeling not like yourself. Getting makeup applied by a professional can help accentuate your eyes and cheekbones, cover skin blemishes, add silky smoothness to lips, and reduce glare from oily skin. Using a professional can help you achieve a natural, polished look without you feeling unnatural. Likewise, getting your hair done on your special day might help you feel that little bit of 'extra special' on your big day. I'm happy to recommend a hair and makeup specialist to fill your needs. If you know your hair best and it's adding stress to you that a stranger will be doing your hair than this step is obviously not necessary.

Not everyone is enthusiastic about getting in front of the camera and that's okay. On the day of the shoot we'll go slow and keep things simple so that you feel comfortable. I get that not every person is bubbly and spontaneous and destined to be an Instagram or Tik Tok influencer. Each shoot needs to reflect the senior's personality and vibe. I will assist you in poses, where to look, whether to smile or be serious in order to show you and your personality in the best light. I hope that by the time you leave your session you’ll think “hey, that wasn’t so bad. I’m really looking forward to seeing how my photos turned out!”

Luckily, in Colorado we don’t often have inclement weather. Unless it is downpouring, I see no need to reschedule our appointment. There are many wonderful ways to photograph successfully in different types of conditions whether it be sunny or overcast. A little snow shower or rain can add a dreamy, magical atmosphere. We might even be lucky enough to get a rainbow! I try to keep up to date with the weather before a session so I can notify you if any changes need to occur, but this is typically never the case.

Time. The most important ingredient in our lives today seems to be time; how we are going to use it, and how we don’t seem to have enough of it. By providing select fine art prints and framed photos in my collections, I ensure that you leave my sessions with something to remember them by. These will be heirlooms passed down, memories relived of years flown by in the blink of an eye. The quality fine art prints and frames that you will receive will last over time and I can ensure that you get prints that reflect accurate colors by using a professional print lab approved and used by me personally.

Yes, when you go to order for your selected collection, I will have a la carte items available at additional cost. If you don't see something you'd like on there, please, let me know and I will try to accommodate your request.
